About Dmad Reservoir
This oasis in the middle of the desert delta of Sevier is located near the DMAD reservoir, also known as the Delta reservoir. The 1,199-hectare reservoir was built to provide cooling for a coal-fired power plant in Utah, USA. This reservoir is the largest hydroelectric dam in North America with a capacity of 1.5 million cubic meters of water, which gives the lake its name, the "DMAD Reservoir."
The DMAD reservoir is located in the Panoramic Land region of Utah and is located in a serpentine valley, one of the most scenic areas in Utah, USA.
Most of the 6.3-mile coastline is owned by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), while the coast is lined with state and private land. Public campsites are located within 15 miles of the reservoir, and 6 of them are owned. Facilities at the DMAD reservoir include a water treatment plant, a hydroelectric power plant and water storage facilities, which constitute most of the activities around the desert lake.
The landscape is rugged and pretty, with the colours of the desert coming alive at sunrise and sunset, and the sunsets and sunrises in the afternoon.
You can't help but get a sense of what the old West must have looked like 150 years ago, but it's only in the DMAD reservoir where you can cool off. Most trees and plants have remained at the reservoir since it was dammed, causing debris around the lake that can be dangerous for boats. Fishing at the DMad reservoir is slow, as the water is heated and the fish must stay at a cool depth. You can expect to catch some big fish, such as salmon, trout, mackerel and even some small fish.
Another sight at the DMAD reservoir is Fillmore's home, the Territorial Statehouse, Utah's oldest government building, built by Brigham Young in anticipation of Utah's statehood. The first full part of the State House and the only full part in Utah was completed during the session of the Territral Legislative Assembly, which was the first and only full session ever held in the State House. Visit the restored lakeside holiday home, the old statehouse and other historic buildings in the city.
Nearby is a camp for one night, and you can also camp in the town of Salt Lake City, just a few miles away.
Fishlake National Forest is also near the DMAD reservoir in Millard County, where hunting, fishing and off-road driving are practiced. The fish lake is surrounded by aspen trees and open meadows and is considered the jewel of Utah. It offers trophy fishing, bird watching and a variety of other leisure activities such as hiking, camping and fishing.
The city of DMAD includes the Sugarville Delta, home to many of the city's most popular attractions. Other attractions in the Delta include an internment camp that was used by many Japanese and Americans after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
After visiting all the attractions at the reservoir, head back to the DMAD reservoir to fish under the clear blue sky. Stay to watch the sunset casting shadows on the lake and the surrounding desert for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
