Bullards Bar is one of the most popular fishing destinations in the San Francisco Bay Area and there are plenty of year-round fishing opportunities. The biggest fish in the world is salmon, although there is also a great variety of other fish species, such as trout, perch, tuna, mackerel, salmon and even some trout.
Always make sure you have a valid California fishing permit before you arrive, as shore fishing is virtually impossible as the shore of the lake drops steeply into the water, making a fishing boat the best option.
For nature lovers, New Bullards Bar Reservoir offers nearly 20 km of hiking trails, and if nature walks don't quench your thirst for a once-in-a-lifetime getaway, you can camp by the lake for a night or two. The beautiful flora that covers the Plumas and Tahoe National Forests offers many opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing and other outdoor activities as well as hiking and fishing.
