Bumping Lake, in the shadow of Mt. Rainier, is one of six reservoirs owned and managed by the Bureau of Reclamation. The reservoir is part of the Yakima Project and irrigates fertile land in the south and center of Washington.

Bumping Lake Dam is a pristine, natural glacial lake in the South Central Tourism Region of Washington, within the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service ranger district. Surrounded by scenic views of Mt. Rainier, the Columbia River and the Yakima Valley, BumpingLake offers a wide range of outdoor experiences just south of the central Washington tourist region.

The land around Bumping Lake belongs to the Reclamation Department and is managed by the Forestry Commission mainly for recreational purposes. The Bumped Lake area offers a variety of recreational activities including hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, boating, rafting and hiking on Lower Bump Lake. Boat trips are possible at a nearby marina for a fee, and boat rentals are also possible.

Hunting for wild animals is allowed with a special permit or license, but hunting for wild animals is prohibited. Bumping Lake and its densely forested 10-mile coastline provide many habitats for a variety of endangered and endangered species and their relatives. This includes a large number of bird species such as spotted owl, bald eagle, falcon and other birds of prey. An acceptable alternative could be the expansion of the reservoir, which is under discussion in two plans. The largest expansion would create a new dam on the existing Bumping Lake dam, creating new land of 4,120 hectares. A second, smaller alternative would be to expand Bumped Lake by 3,500 hectares and a second extension by 1,000 hectares to the north.

These expansions would likely block access to Bumping Lake during construction, but ultimately include fish ladders and improved fish habitat. Salmon in the Yakima River are decimated by overfishing in Bumped Lake and other reservoirs in Washington state. The estimated salmon stock in one of the state's largest rivers declined by 8,000% between 1981 and 1990.

The number of returning fish has increased, but the amount of salmon in Bumped Lake and other reservoirs in the Yakima River has also been greatly reduced.

The more daring and adventurous will enjoy the many kilometres of mountainous trails for snowshoeing, snowmobiling or snowmobiling. The Bumping Lake Trail is perfect for the blanket, a repellent substance that is brought along during the warmer months. The White Pass Scenarios Route leads from Bumped Lake to the south, from Nachees to the north of Wenchee National Forest and ends at the southern end of the Cascade Mountains, south of Seattle. It is surrounded by many picturesque side streets that cross - over the cascades and also end on Interstate 5 south to Seattle and begin at Nachos.

Bumping Lake is a great destination for those looking for a quiet retreat to nature, as it is surrounded by scenic views of the Cascade Mountains to the north and the Columbia River to the south to Mount Rainier National Park.
