About Lake Limestone

Lake Limestone is located in Texas, USA, about 30 miles south of Austin, Texas and about 20 miles east of Houston.

The reservoir was created in 1978, when the Sterling C. Robinson Dam was built by the Brazos River Authority on the Navasota River. The resulting limestone lake, which was built to supply drinking water and cool the water supply, has developed into a popular leisure lake for thousands of visitors. Residential development and port facilities have been approved, making Limestone Lake one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States. Miles of irregular coastline, including a wooded backdrop that offers picturesque views of Houston and the city of Corpus Christi from its foothills across the lake.

I am often overlooked by recreational boaters, and many obviously do not know what they are missing. Lake Limestone borders the Houston - Corpus Christi Highway, the Texas Turnpike and the Gulf of Mexico, as well as the Brazos River.

When full, the limestone covers 13,680 hectares and reaches a depth of 43 feet below the dam, and when full, it covers over 13 million hectares. The water level of the lake varies between one and three metres, with water being absorbed if necessary. This year's drought has brought water levels down to normal, leaving residents with little water to put on.

As you would expect from a Texas reservoir, Lake Limestone is home to three different species of catfish, including white bass, cappie, blue and black bass, and a number of other species. The residential areas along the lake offer many jetties and boat houses to accommodate the many fish species in the lake, making it a popular fishing area. Spring brings the usual selection of fish, and anglers crave white bass and crappyie.

Several public boat moorings along the lake provide sufficient water access, although one near the dam is sometimes closed due to low water levels. The lake has a large underwater structure that attracts fish, and the flowing stream provides a shallow spawning ground that several species need.

The limestone lake is a popular destination for all types of water sports, including fishing, boating, kayaking, swimming, canoeing and other recreational activities. Public parking along the coast accommodates a limited number of coastal fishermen, but most anglers prefer to fish by boat. The fish stock has been self-sustaining for the first 20 years when the reservoir was stocked with Texas Fish and Game.

All four parks are owned and managed by the Brazos River Authority and Limestone County and Leon County. Three of them are allowed to swim ashore and there are lifeguards, but the other two are not.

The BRA manages the parks near its office at the dam and its locations offer a variety of recreational activities such as fishing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, swimming, boating, fishing and camping.

The number of days on which camping is allowed in each of the three camps varies and overnight stays are not permitted. The other three parks offer a variety of camping options such as camping, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, boating and fishing. There is no drinking water, but shady campsites make good use of it - used wells and there is drinking water in the lake, as well as water for drinking and cooking.

The campsites offer tents and bunkhouses for a fee - for fireplaces, air-conditioned - as well as showers and toilets. If you want more challenging camping, you can use one of the three campsites in the other three parks, such as a campsite, a campsite or a camp.

There is no full service marina for larger boats, but they offer all the necessary amenities for fishermen and day boaters. In one of the marinas, boats with gas on the water are sold, as well as a boat repair shop and a gas station for boats.

The BRA expects all visitors to comply with its safety regulations and to comply with the speed limit. Maritime patrols ensure the safety of all boaters and all floating equipment, boats and boats in the water.

The state fishing and hunting regulations are also in force and fishing licenses can be purchased in the marina. During the hunting season, permits are issued for hunting waterfowl on the lake, but no fishing permit is required.

Several small towns are located just a few miles from the limestone lake and are usually considered unofficial hometowns of the lake, such as San Antonio, Austin, Houston, Dallas and Austin - Fort Worth.

Several festivals and celebrations throughout the year always provide variety at the lake. Groesbeck offers a variety of activities, such as fishing, kayaking, canoeing, boating, swimming, fishing and much more.

The outskirts of Groesbeck are bordered by two historic sites, including the site of the Confederate Reunification of 1889 and the Texas State Capitol.

The 1893 dance pavilion included a ballroom, dance halls and a bar, as well as a stage, concert hall and amphitheatre. The battlefield was held during the Civil War, while the Reunion Grounds was used as the Texas State Capitol and Confederate Reunification site from 1946.

The restored Old Fort Parker holds an important piece of Texas history from the 1830s. The first pioneer settlement and settlement settled here after Elder Parker from Illinois and built a fortress. The drive with its picturesque view of Lake Limestone and the nearby Texas State Capitol adds to the appeal.

The elder Parker and several others died in the attack, and five captives were kidnapped, including two young girls, Cynthia Allen and Ann Parker. Indian family, the young girl was adopted and eventually married, but later she was kidnapped again, this time as a young woman. The fortress was finally rebuilt and now offers several hectares of reconstructed buildings. Accommodation is available for those who have moved and modernised.

In addition to the old Fort Parker, FortParker State Park offers a number of other attractions, including a museum, amphitheater, golf course and water park.

The waterway winds through limestone cliffs and deciduous forests, providing a great opportunity to observe the natural beauty of the lake and its surroundings, as well as the picturesque views of Fort Parker. Limestone bluff paddle trails offer a wide range of trails, some of which are considered the best in the country for kayaking, canoeing, hiking and other recreational activities. The Limestone Lake and its surroundings offer a quiet and relaxing environment to enjoy nature.

There are various types of accommodation in the area, from modern cottages and cottages to occasional private cottages by the lake. There are properties, often on buildable land, and in some areas there is a wide variety of different types of housing, from single-family houses to large multi-storey buildings.

Lake Limestone is a relatively undiscovered gem in the heart of Texas that offers all kinds of water recreation to water sports enthusiasts who are lucky enough to find it. This statistic refers to the normal rainfall of a year and reflects the normal water level of the lake.
