About Cedar Creek Reservoir
Cedar Creek Lake, also known as Cedar Creek Reservoir, is located in Fort Worth, Texas, USA, about 30 miles east of Dallas. It is one of the few lakes in northeast Texas that allows ownership of the lake, and the reservoir was created in 1965 in the Fort Worth area as a reservoir by the Texas Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Texas Parks and Wildlife.
The 32,623-acre lake is 18 miles long and has a 320-mile coastline, making it one of the largest freshwater lakes in the United States and the second largest in Texas.
Cedar Creek Lake, managed by the Tarrant Regional Water District, is the fourth largest lake in Texas. Cedar Creek, a tributary of the Trinity River, was dammed in the early 20th century as part of the first Texas dam project. On the west side of Cedar Creek Reservoir is an overflow basin that drains water into a channel that leads to the Unity River. Enjoy the weekend with water activities and beautiful scenery or camp on the shores of the lake for a weekend of fishing, kayaking, swimming, fishing and other activities.
The water level fluctuates with an average circumference of four meters, and the inflow of water into the lake also contributes to the water levels of the Trinity River and its tributary, the Unity River, which also flows into Cedar Creek.
The Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife maintains three islands in Cedar Creek Lake as wildlife management areas for waterfowl. The islands, which total 160 hectares, contribute to bird conservation and provide access to a wide range of wildlife habitats such as lakes, ponds and waterfalls, as well as the Trinity River and its tributaries. The city of Cedar Creek Lake includes the city of Fort Worth and Enchanted Forest Park, both located in the northeast corner of the lake.
Tom Finley Park, across the street from Texas Route 334, is a waterfront day park that features a boat ramp and picnic area. Boats can be rented with an electric elevator from a local marina or you can find a boat storage on the lake.
Considered one of the best fishing lakes in Texas, this lake is under state control, so check the legal limits and regulations before you go fishing. The best place to fish for perch is in the southern part of this lake, where the water is clear. Catfish can be found on the Flachsee - also catfish, perch, bluefish and small mouth perch.
Cedar Creek Lake is a good catfish fishing lake, as numerous streams and tributaries flow into the lake. Whitefish and hybrid perch fishing is rated excellent by Texas Parks and Wildlife, with excellent whitefish, cat fish and cappie being the best. It is stocked with striped perch with a lake record of just under 13 pounds, as well as small mouthed perch, blueperch and a number of other fish species.
Although life on the lake is slower than in the city, it offers a relaxing landscape and a life - a fulfilling retreat to rural Cedar Creek Lake. The apartments are easy to find and have a variety of amenities such as a pool, pool and picnic area, as well as access to a number of restaurants on the lake.
The small lakeside town offers a variety of restaurants and shopping options, while the big city of Dallas is just an hour away. Get out of the way and still be close enough to stay in touch with family, friends and colleagues - workers in Dallas, Austin, Fort Worth, Houston and Austin.
