About Lake Naomi
The lake offers residents and visitors four seasons of recreation and is one of the most popular destinations in the state of Pennsylvania. On summer weekends, sailboats glide over the clean mountain water, skiers start on the nearby slopes and paddle along the rocky shore of the lake.
In 1895, the Pocono Pines Corporation built a dam to create the recreational lake that would later become Lake Naomi. The original developer Logan B. Steele donated the lake and its facilities to the LakeNaomi Club in 1986. In the tradition of the great Poconos resorts, Lake Naomi is located on one of Pennsylvania's oldest and most popular mountain resorts and offers a variety of recreational activities including kayaking, canoeing, fishing and hiking.
The 2,500-acre resort is surrounded by Pocono Pines National Park and LakeNaomi National Wildlife Refuge. The association manages the lake and a number of other facilities in the resort area.
The state's lands provide a natural buffer to ensure that development at Lake Naomi cannot expand. Motorboats are allowed on the lake, which further improves the peaceful nature of the lake, as well as fishing and boating.
The sailing club also offers courses and there is a wide sailing programme, with regattas taking place on Saturday and Sunday during the season.
Lake Naomi Resort also includes three smaller lakes and several marinas, which can be explored by canoe or kayak.
Perch fishing on the lake is very good and there is a fly fishing programme during the season, but there are also healthy Valais populations. Lake Naomi also has a healthy Valais population and a small number of other species.
The beach is lined with beaches, and juvenile fishing derbies are a popular event on Lake Naomi, as well as a variety of other activities such as kayaking, boating, canoeing, kayaking and paddling.
The Naomi Lake Club organises year-round dances and socialising, and the grounds have tennis courts and sports fields, including sand volleyball and basketball. Other amenities at Lake Naomi include a golf course, swimming pool, tennis court, volleyball court, sports ground and picnic area.
A nine-hole golf course is available and several other courses are nearby, and a riding stable is also nearby.
Ice skating is popular in winter, and several ski slopes are just minutes away from the village. Lake Naomi has a number of lakes and spas, as well as a ski resort, golf course, ice rink and swimming pool.
Philadelphia and Manhattan are less than two hours away, making it a weekend destination, and Lake Naomi is just a short drive from Philadelphia and New York City, the two largest cities in the country.
Children who grew up on Lake Naomi today bring back memories of their childhood, and there is a great interest in the history of the lake and its history as a tourist destination.
