The Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania are spectacular for many reasons, and Beltzville Lake is one of them. Located at the southern foot of the famous Pennsylvania Mountains, the BeltZville Reservoir offers spectacular views and countless activities.

The 949 hectare reservoir serves as a welcoming lighthouse and was built by the army to control the floods and provide the Lehigh Valley with recreational water. Although there is public access in the fenced lake, a special area is reserved for skiing on the water away from recreational boaters and swimmers. Pohopoco Creek, created by the construction of the dam and the diversion of water from the Lehigh River into the reservoir, offers a medium variety of water sports. As with most reservoirs, the maximum speed is 45 km / h. Outside this limit, the public can engage in almost any leisure activity depending on the season.

Beltzville Lake has quickly become popular with day-trippers, and there are also seasonal canoe moorings. Boaters can use the two-lane launch pad from the parking lot on the north side of the lake to the boat ramp at the south end.

Further east, the Beltzville State Park stretches to Wild Horse Cove and Pohopaco Cove, and the lower coast is dominated by acres. The area is open for licensed hunting and is frequently visited by migratory birds, making it an excellent place for game watching.

Fifteen kilometres of hiking trails stretch across large parts of the south coast, and the Sawmill Way in the west, near the dam, has been extended. In winter, the area is a popular destination for snowshoeing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and snowboarding.

Fishermen throw their fishing rods into Beltzville Lake almost every season, and tickets are available at Park Ranger Station on the north shore. West of the beach there are boat rentals and concessions as well as a boat rental concession.

The Pohopoco Brook is a productive trout stream east of the Bay of Pohopsoco, and the lake is full of trout and other fish species, such as bluefish, white trout, redfish, blackbird and brown trout. The most popular types are the brown, blue, yellow, brown and white bass, as well as the white and black bass. At the reservoir, POHOPoco Creek has stocked trout with brown, pike, shad, bream, snapper, sideburns, sardines, walleyes, salmon, mackerel and even a few whitefish.

This section of the High River is embedded with Class III white water and is popular for rafting, kayaking and canoeing.

High purity anthracite coal, or as it is called, was discovered on the Poconos in the early 19th century. Almost a black gold has been observed in this area 80 miles northwest of Philadelphia, and it is a treasure trove of history and a must-visit.

The area has made enormous wealth for a few, and a mining village is located right in the heart of everything, Beltzville Lake, Pennsylvania. In the late 19th century, 13 millionaires lived in Beltsville, one of the largest mining villages in the Poconos, as Jim Thorpe was originally called. Some of them lived miserably with their companies in the city, but some of the richest men in the area, such as John D. Rockefeller and John F. Kennedy, made their vast fortunes in the area.

Within 10 km of Jim Thorpe, 9 museums are available for historical tours, and part of the technical miracle train has been preserved and visitors can ride it for a short distance. The mine serves as a museum, tourist attraction and educational center for children and adults.
