About Lake Harmony
After hundreds of years of solitude, people fled the city to the solitude of Lake Harmony. Harmoniesee has attracted people from all over the world, from the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India and many others.
Originally known as a large pond, Lake Harmony is a natural glacial lake without a dam and sits on the banks of the Allegheny River, making it the largest freshwater lake in the United States. The two - and - a - half mile long lake is privately owned by Lake Harmony Estates and is currently 2.2 kilometres deep and the size of a football field.
Lake Harmony Estates has a jetty and marina and allows guests to enjoy fishing, boating and other recreational activities such as kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing and kayaking.
At Lake Harmony Estates there is a designated swimming area with swimming pool, picnic area and beach with picnic tables and benches.
Lake Harmony Estates also hosts vacation activities and has a very active homeowners association dedicated to building a strong community. The residential area ranges from condominiums to detached houses to terraced houses, and there are many short-term apartments, although access to the Harmoniesee is only possible standing. Lake Harmony has a long history as a holiday resort and summer temperatures rarely exceed 90 degrees.
Split Rock Lodge was built in 1941 by the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company as a hunting and fishing club. The lodge is still in operation today and hosts a variety of activities for the local community, such as fishing and hunting.
In the late 1940s, the first commercial ski slopes opened in Pennsylvania on Lake Harmony, and there are several other ski resorts in the area, such as Ski Hill. Skis, sledges and snowmobiles are nearby and fishing in Harmoniesee is very good, but skiing is not very good as there is only one ski resort, Split Rock Lodge. The average snowfall limit in this area is 60 cm, so the mountains are not as high as the Rocky Mountains.
Hickory Run State Park is a short drive from Lake Harmony, and the area that became a park was called "Shadows of Death" by the early settlers.
The forest was eventually cleared by loggers and in 1935 the land was bought by the National Park Service. There are two main routes, one from Hickory Run State Park to Lake Harmony and another from the park to the lake.
Founded in 1939, it became Hickory Run State Park in 1945, one of the oldest state parks in the United States and the only one in Pennsylvania.
The park is largely made up of glacial moraines, and the scree fields are the forces that have shaped the area. In addition to the area's natural attractions, the National Natural Monument is also nearby, which is literally a boulder field. The park's main attraction, Blue Ridge National Park, is nearby.
Lake Harmonie is also home to one of the most popular hiking trails in the United States, Lake Harmonie, which is a four-season destination for the whole family.
