The majestic Pocono Mountains form the backdrop of the homonymous lake, Lake Pocano and the artificial "Lake Pocono" "is located on the eastern shore of Lake Erie, Pennsylvania, USA. Built in 1867 for logging, it is today the largest freshwater lake in the USA with an area of 2.2 million square kilometres. Poconos Lake Preserve was founded in 1907 to create a vacation and religious retreat.

Each member of the Nature Conservation Association has a two to four hectare property and a house, and hikers can enjoy the peace and quiet in their surroundings. The reserve also has nearly 28 miles of hiking trails that wind through its land.
