About Keystone Lake

Keystone Lake is one of the largest lakes in the state of Oklahoma and the second largest lake in Oklahoma. The varied coastline is surrounded by gentle sandstone hills covered by oak lawns and plum thickets.

Although not the largest lake in Oklahoma, Keystone Lake offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor fun. Public access to the water and playground offers a variety of hiking trails, picnic areas and picnic tables, as well as a range of water sports and activities for children.

Keystone Lake was approved under the Flood Control Act in 1950, and the US Army Corps of Engineers began construction of the Keystone Dam on the Arkansas River in 1957. The dam was commissioned in 1964 by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Land Management (BLM), and Keystone Lake in 1965.
