Interestingly, most of the eastern shore of this lake is wooded and undeveloped with wetlands. Efforts have been made to buy up the undeveloped land for the protection of wetlands and, interestingly, it is planted with forests and wetlands.

Although there is no official public access, Davenport Lake is a popular fishing lake and several moorings are provided for the convenience of residents and villagers. Fishing boats and pedal boats can be rented at the lake, as well as several other types of boat. The water quality of Lake Covington is very good, making it an ideal location for boats, and it is also popular as a lake for fishing, as there are no official agencies or public access.

Lake Davenport is believed to be home to the four species that inhabit most of the lakes in the area, but Florida Fish and Wildlife does not report the latest occupation activity.
