Carter Lake is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Colorado, the second largest lake in the United States. Most visitors will not imagine this important feature when they enjoy the scenic beauty of Carter Lake and its many lakes and rivers. Instead, water lovers will focus on the water quality and uniqueness of the water supply. The reservoir is the main source of water that supplies the eastern slope with water from the Colorado River and the western slopes of Colorado and Utah.

The lake has been storing water for the foothills and valley since 1954, and the Reprocessing Office has developed a variety of recreational activities in the region to improve the quality of life of the region's inhabitants and provide tourists and vacationers with a year-round water attraction.
