About Cherry Lake

It is one of the largest reservoirs in the United States and the second largest reservoir in California. It dates back to 1882, when it was considered a potential reservoir site, but the Army Corps of Engineers also wanted to control the flooding in the valley from heavy rains. An irrigation district has been established to meet the needs of irrigation, agriculture and the valley.

A partnership between local and federal authorities led to the creation of Cherry Creek, which includes Cherry Lake, Cherry River, Cherry Valley and Cherry Canyon, as well as other reservoirs.

The Cherry Lake Project was completed in 1956 by the California State Water Resources Control Board and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Water from the lake and Cherry Creek Reservoir generates hydropower and provides irrigation water for the Modesto-Turlock Irrigation District, as well as drinking water for the city of Cherry Valley and other communities in the area. CherryLake covers an area of about 3,000 square kilometers and covers about 1.5 million hectares.

Cherry Lake has become a resort known for its sparkling waters and a variety of activities, including fishing, boating, hiking, kayaking, camping and other recreational activities. Fishermen can plan a day trip to Cherry Lake by boat from the jetty of Cherry Valley Road. Always make sure you have a valid California fishing license before you arrive and patrol the vast expanse of the lake around you with your hook and eyes. Rainbow trout and rainbow trout, as well as other fish species such as bluefish, whitefish, perch, redfish and trout.

Shipping to Cherry Lake is less than to other lakes in the region due to the long arrival and departure times, but the time is well spent as the jetty can be unusable at low water levels. The water level fluctuates and falls from mid-July to September, when water is taken in for irrigation.

Take a break for a picnic in the middle of the lake, take a leisurely boat ride, jump into the water to pump adrenaline, swim fast and cool down or pump up your water skis and explore the hidden coves. The wind feels in your hair as you graze the surface of this reservoir, and the sound of water splashing against the shore sounds like a thunderstorm.

The beach is rocky, but on the south side of the lake, just a few hundred meters from the shore, a sandy section with perfect swimming is offered. Swimming is also popular at the boat ramp, and it is located in the middle of Cherry Lake, right on the shore and a short walk from a picnic area.

The campsite has a vaulted cabin, and during the campfire season campfires are only allowed at the campsites, but boat tents are also allowed on the eastern shore of the lake. All supplies are available in Groveland, such as food, drinking water, camping equipment, tents and camping equipment, and water.

Cherry Creek Lake is an 880,099-acre forest in the Sierra Nevada, and it includes one of the oldest national forests in the country.

The landscape is dominated by grazing cattle, but on the 1500 m long shore of the lake you can expect first-class white rafting.

Granite rocks grow out of the earth and form the bedrock of Cherry Creek, the largest lake in California.

Cherry Lake is also part of Yosemite National Park, which covers 71,266 hectares and hosts an incredible 3.5 million visitors each year. Yosemite National Park is a World Heritage Site and internationally known for its giant sequoias, roaring waterfalls and breathtaking mountain views. Over 150 species of birds cross the park each year and the views of the mountains are breathtaking; the huge Sequoia is almost too big to believe. You can discover the spectacular natural beauty of Yosemite Mountains by walking the paths of the parks, exploring scenic park trails or taking guided tours.

Visitors should obtain a wilderness permit before entering Yosemite National Park, and a path near Cherry Lake Dam leads hikers to the lake.

The reservoir is fun for everyone all year round, and activities in the Cherry Lake area are full of snowmobiles whizzing down the path, roaming the countryside, young and young - at heart - people fighting snowball battles and creating artful snow angels in powder white light. CherryLake invites you to enjoy the beautiful views of the Sierra Nevada, Yosemite National Park, the national forest or one of the many restaurants, bars and restaurants.
