About Little Lake Louise
Lake Louise, connected to Susitna Lake, is considered a springboard in this remote part of Alaska. It is the largest freshwater lake in the United States and the second largest in Alaska, making it one of the largest lakes in the world. Lake Louise is located at 2,000 feet above sea level and is surrounded by its community.
In the early days of the community, Lake Louise was called Clear Lake Adah after Captain Gleen and his wife. Later the lake was renamed in her honor and later renamed Lake Louise in honor of the wives of CaptainGleen.
During the construction of the Alaska Highway, Lake Louise became a popular research and research site for the Army. The army launched one team in the water and another on the highway to meet in the middle and built a bridge over the lake to the other side. With its beautiful views of Alaska and its natural beauty, it is now a popular playground for visitors and Alaska alike.
The lodge area has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area, with a number of restaurants, hotels, hotels and resorts.
The Lake Louise State Recreation Area covers 511 hectares and features a number of facilities including a campground, campsites and a picnic area that provides accommodation for tents and campers. Accommodation in the Lake Louise recreational area also includes a covered picnic shelter, picnic tables and picnic tables, and an outdoor pool. There are many snowmobile guides who offer excursions of varying difficulty or simply take you to the most scenic areas. In winter it is a popular destination for snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing, mountain biking, hiking and snowboarding.
Grayling, burdock and lake trout abound in Lake Louise, and it's also a great area for warm weather.
Ice fishing is also a popular winter activity for the most avid anglers, and every angler has a different way to reach their limits.
Caribou and elk often spend the winter in the Lake Louise area and are often seen in and around the community. Be sure to bring a camera to capture some of the rich wildlife in Lake Louise, and in the summer months it is a popular destination for kayaking, canoeing, skiing, snowshoeing and other outdoor activities.
Lake Louise is also the site of the Copper Basin 300 snowmobile race, offering residents and visitors a variety of outdoor activities including snowshoeing, kayaking, canoeing and snowmobiling. Lake Louise is located on the coast and is predominantly residential, with a wide selection of waterfront homes and cottages. The population of Lake Louise is very small and many of the houses are only used as vacation homes.
The Mat Su Valley covers more than 23,000 square miles and is one of the few agricultural areas in Alaska where vast areas are cultivated for vegetable crops. Lake Louise is home to the largest vegetable garden in the United States, with over 1,500 acres of vegetables and fruit.
The surrounding landscape, including the Tazlina Glacier, is breathtaking. There are many well-marked trails scattered along the community boundaries, and the views of Lake Louise, the Mat Su Valley and other parts of Alaska are exceptional. This makes it an ideal destination for hiking, mountain biking, skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling.
